I was born and raised in Heron Lake, Minnesota. A small town you probably have never heard of, but now you have! My passion for fishing started when I was just a little guy. My Grandpa Fred loved fishing, and everything associated with fishing! I learned so much from him, like how to build minnow traps and how to clean fish. When I’d bring back a bucket full of fresh caught bullheads, he would get a big grin and I knew he was proud. My farm boy childhood was filled with hunting, fishing and football. I served 4 years in the Navy on board the USS Long Beach (CGN-9) and met my incredible wife, Martha. We moved to Minnesota where I continued to spend as much time as I could hunting and fishing. I was fortunate to fish many new lakes in Central and Northern Minnesota. I have many great memories of fishing with my Minnesota buddies.
We moved to Colorado in 1999 and I loved the challenge of fishing these western reservoirs, instead of my Minnesota lakes. I started fishing tournaments in 2001, and I quickly realized that the combination of fishing, camaraderie and competition was a perfect match and I’ve been hooked ever since. I became more and more active in promoting the sport of fishing and served as the Colorado Walleye Association’s Tournament Director for 5 years as well as representing Tracker and Bass Pro Shops for many years. I’m so thankful to have my wife and three awesome kids, Mandy, Abby and Matthew, to share in all of life’s adventures.
All Eyes On Fishing, and everything we do, is a way for me to share my passion with others, promote a sport that is so important to me and to truly live my life to the fullest!
